The Stoned Goat Ultra is an evolution in ultralight knife design. The fit and finish on this knife is exceptional! The blade is laser sharp and mirror polishing is gorgeous. The carbon fiber handle is nicely contoured and thin, fits really well in the hand. Can’t wait to put it to work this upcoming deer season!

If you’re after a blade with a generous belly, a strong tip, and an overall well-balanced contour, this one checks all the boxes. It tucks perfectly into the side of a Marsupial bino pack—you forget it’s even there. It’s noticeably more comfortable than a Tyto blade and nearly identical in weight.
Would I prefer slightly thicker scales? Sure—but it’s far from a deal breaker. So far, it’s glided effortlessly through the hides of two Watusi cows and still had plenty of edge left for another animal before needing a touch-up. I’ll be carrying this on my next Alaska backpacking trip, and expectations are high for what it can handle. I will be buying more MKC knives in the future.

Unfortunately at $375, I am questioning the value of this specific configuration. For comparison, my previous Fieldcraft felt better aligned in terms of finish, execution, and overall value at its price point. My other MKC knives including the Battlegoat, SERE25, and TF24 have all been bank vault quiet and, for lack of a better word, nearly perfect in terms of sheath retention. The Stoned Goat is an excellent design, but the premium here does not translate into a premium experience, especially when service did not resolve the sheath issue.
My only other critique is purely aesthetic. With a mirror polished blade finish, I feel the spine should be more refined or polished to match. I understand this is part of MKC’s design language, but it feels slightly out of place on an otherwise premium finish.
I genuinely love MKC’s designs and respect both the company and their story. I also understand that occasional issues can happen with any manufacturer. This will not be my last MKC purchase, though depending on how this is ultimately handled, this particular knife may be returned. Honest feedback is how brands improve, and at this price point it is important to be transparent about the experience.
Overall, the knife is sharp, compact, and highly functional. It is a capable little beast. I simply expect better execution and follow through at this level.
