Introducing the MKC Traditions Knives, a special collection that brings back the classic hunting knives from my days as a custom knife maker. Each knife in this lineup features a unique desert ironwood handle, renowned for its toughness and one-of-a-kind grain patterns.

The MKC Traditions Knives showcase handles crafted from desert ironwood, a material celebrated for its hard, closed grain that repels oil, blood, and water. This ensures the handle stays clean, stable, and free from warping or cracking. We’ve outfitted five of our models – the Blackfoot, the Whitetail, the Stonewall, the Jackstone, and the Super Cub – with these exceptional handles, each paired with a custom sheath from Francesca at Teton Leather.

Every piece of desert ironwood is unique, just like a fingerprint, offering a variety of grain patterns from burly to straight. This means no two knives are alike, giving you a one-of-a-kind tool that is both functional and visually stunning. The ironwood's natural resilience to extreme conditions makes it perfect for hunting knives.

With a Janka hardness rating of 3260, the desert ironwood is one of the hardest woods available, ensuring the handle can withstand even the most rigorous use without cracking or breaking.

No Two Handles Are The Same

The stunning grain patterns and rich color variations, ranging from honey gold to blackish brown, give each handle a unique and visually captivating aesthetic. The natural luster of the wood adds an almost glass-like shine, elevating the overall appearance.

The natural density and stability of the wood mean these handles will maintain their shape and size over time, without requiring any special stabilization.

    Amazing

    This Jackstone has been one of my favorite knives, adding it to the Traditions line takes it to a whole new level. Every set of Desert Ironwood scales are different and unique, paired with the mirror finish make this knife look absolutely amazing! It is definitely a piece that deserves to get passed down for generations. As with all of my MKC knives, it was razor sharp out of the box.

    Heirloom Classic Knife

    Luck of the draw when it comes to wood scales, but it has beautifully contrasting light and dark grain. The beatiful wood grain paired with the look of the Jackstone belt skinner design make this the ultimate heirloom big game knife. This is Jackstone isn't manufactured. It's crafted and a work of art.

    The best MKC got even better.
