The MKC Traditions Knives showcase handles crafted from desert ironwood, a material celebrated for its hard, closed grain that repels oil, blood, and water. This ensures the handle stays clean, stable, and free from warping or cracking. We’ve outfitted four of our models – the Speedgoat, the Blackfoot, the Whitetail, and the Jackstone with these exceptional handles, each paired with a custom sheath from Francesca at Teton Leather.

Every piece of desert ironwood is unique, just like a fingerprint, offering a variety of grain patterns from burly to straight. This means no two knives are alike, giving you a one-of-a-kind tool that is both functional and visually stunning.     Almost!

    Size is perfect! Mirror polish is beautfil paired with the desert ironwood. The ironwood is why I decided to pay the extra $100. It says their may be imperfections in the wood and I have two dark spots on my handle. I woud have prefered a clean grain pattern but hoping it grows on me. As of this moment it's driving me nuts.

    The sheath is a HEAVY DUTY leather. Heavier than the knife itself. Defeats the purpose of a lightweight carry. It's also about increases the overall profile about 3x. I guess the goal was durablility, may be able to find a happy medium.

    Traditions speed goat

    Beautiful knives sharp as a razor you could shave with it. I live would handled definitely something to pass down to my kid and grandkids and with the generation guarantee make it worth the money.

    Another Speedgoat

    I was able to add the Tradition model to my family of Speedgoats. The Speedgoat is the perfect "do everything" blade design, you can't go wrong no matter what version you go with. The Traditions Speedgoat is a classy variation of the Speedgoat line. Every set of desert ironwood scales is different, which makes the wait even more exciting, not knowing what yours is going to look like. I was a little disappointed at first when mine arrived because there was not much grain in the scales. But it really grew on me, I like things that are unique, and I'd say this fits the bill. Thank you MKC, I am very happy with my purchase.

    Very nice!

    I love the thin profile of the handle. I bought it to go with my other Traditions knives to add to the collection. I might buy another one down the road for an EDC.
