After specializing in ultralight knives for ounce-counting backcountry hunters, we wanted to create a blade with even more versatility. Designed to take on any task a hunter may face, the Stonewall Skinner is truly a do-it-all hunting knife. Perfectly curved for skinning, sharp enough for cutting, and stout enough for chopping, the Stonewall blade is as all-purpose as it gets. And now in Stonewashed MAGNACUT stainless steel, our most versatile hunting knife is more wear and corrosion-resistant than ever.
As a Lincoln, Montana native, our founder and Master Bladesmith Josh Smith grew up hunting and fishing in this remarkable region. The Stonewall Skinner fittingly takes its name from one of the area’s standout landmarks the Stonewall Mountain, bordering the Scapegoat Wilderness to the north.

I ordered the Stonewall Skinner, the Stone Goat & the Speed Goat; all in Magnacut. I returned the Speed Goat. It has a little too much pointy tip for my use. I ordered the Ultra versions because I wanted handle scales. They really didn't need to be Carbon fiber. I find 550 cord wrapped knives become gross after using the to process game. The GOOD: great materials. Great fit and finish. I wish they would lower the cost by skipping the mirror polish; and using simple Micarta or G10 instead of CF. The NOT so great: 1) MKC doesn't run their Magnacut hard enough to get the full benefits of the steel. At 60-61 it's about like S30V with a little added toughness. 2) The price is way too high. Argali has very similar knives for about $100 less than MKC. Hogue offers the Extrak & Extrak XL which are also cheaper. Hogue also runs their Magnacut 1-2 points harder on the Rockwell scale. Last, the TERRIBLE: the clip on the sheaths is stupid. It's made to attach to your backpack stap. And, it doesn't work well, horizontally, on your belt. I dont know anyone who wears their backpack while processing their game. Unfortunately the hole pattern on the MKC kydex is not symmetrical so an aftermarket dangler won't work. Luckily I ordered some 5-6oz, 2.5" wide leather. I cut about 14.5" and used a leather punch to make 4.5mm holes. I folded the leather over to make a drop sheath using the MKC index sheath (see pics).
