The Trail Goat is a concealed tactical blade built for those “just in case” moments. On a trail run, at work, or out on the town, it stays comfortably tucked away until defense or utility calls. It’s the smallest knife in our tactical lineup, ultralight and ultra-concealable by design, sized to ride in a waistband, a pocket, or a pack strap.
The compact footprint is half the story. The dual-mode design is the other half. In reverse grip, it’s a dagger. In forward grip, it’s a legitimate trail knife ready for any utilitarian task.

MODIFIED WHARNCLIFFE BLADE WITH A DAGGER-LIKE CENTERLINE

A single-edged blade that feels like a dagger in reverse grip and works like a Wharncliffe in forward grip.

The blade’s centerline runs straight through the handle, giving the Trail Goat the symmetrical feel of a dagger when held tip-down. It’s single-edged, avoiding the restrictions that apply to double-edged daggers in some states. The dropped, Wharncliffe-style tip delivers precise straight cuts in forward grip for breaking down a box, cutting through rope, or processing food.

CERAKOTE MAGNACUT STAINLESS STEEL BLADE

The Trail Goat features a three-inch MagnaCut stainless steel blade with a low-visibility Cerakote finish in our established tactical colorways, built for premium edge retention and minimal glare.

MagnaCut is the toughest stainless steel on the market. It holds an edge through hard use, stands up to sweat and rain, and is easy to resharpen in the field. The Cerakote finish eliminates reflections that could catch light when you draw the blade. The low-friction surface also means less drag on clothes during a fast draw.

Learn more about MagnaCut stainless steel from its creator, Larrin Thomas.

THICK BLADE STOCK WITH A THUMB RAMP AND GENEROUS FINGER CHOIL

At .125″ thick, the Trail Goat carries full-size tactical blade stock in a three-inch package, with a pronounced thumb ramp and deep finger choil that lock you into a controlled forward grip.

The Trail Goat’s stock matches our full-sized Wargoat and Battle Goat, delivering the sturdiness you need when a defensive blade has to pull double duty as a utility cutter.

The taller blade height gives you more belly for real cutting work. The thumb ramp gives you the leverage to push the tip through hard material or control fine cuts. The deep finger choil keeps your hand clear of the edge, so you can choke up for precision safely.

ULTRALIGHT PARACORD-WRAPPED HANDLE WITH A REVERSE GRIP CURVE

A 550 paracord wrap keeps the handle ultralight, and the curved backside fills your palm for a locked-in reverse grip.

The handle wraps 5.5 feet of 550 paracord into a lightweight, textured grip that locks in your hand and gives you comfortable control through extended use. When the knife is held tip-down, the curve at the back settles the Trail Goat into a natural reverse grip. Unwind the paracord in a pinch for emergency repairs, lanyards, or makeshift utility.

CUSTOM KYDEX SHEATH WITH ULTICLIP FOR CONCEALED CARRY

Each Trail Goat comes with a custom-molded MKC Kydex sheath and UltiClip for discreet, all-day concealed carry.

The sheath can be worn vertically or horizontally, carried IWB, or clipped inside a pack, a waistband, or a pocket. A built-in retention screw lets you dial in exactly the tension you want, so the knife rides quietly until you need it and draws cleanly when you do. The low-profile setup makes it easy to carry the Trail Goat on a job site, a night out, or a trail run without changing rigs.

FREE SHARPENING FOR LIFE AND BEYOND

Generations® is our promise to restore your knife to its original, unmatched working condition.

MKC will clean, sharpen, repair, and even reshape your blades when necessary, as well as rewrap paracord handles free of charge. While we perform all necessary sharpening and maintenance, our aim is not to return your knife to its brand new appearance. Learn more about MKC Generations Promise.

Great fixed EDC. Love MKC! These are four of my eight and have some Montana’s on the way! Still haven’t been lucky enough to score a Hellgate or a Chopper, but those are next on my list! Amazing blades, American made, hell yeah! Have a family vacation to Montana and definitely plan on stopping by the new shop in Missoula!

The Knife That Accidentally Fired My Entire EDC Collection

I bought the Trail Goat in Coyote with the Multicam paracord because it looked cool.

Turns out I accidentally bought my new personality.

This little knife has somehow replaced several knives that I confidently told myself were my “forever everyday carries.” Apparently they were all living on borrowed time.

The Trail Goat is the smallest knife in MKC’s tactical lineup, which is funny because it’s now the knife I carry the most. It’s so light and easy to conceal that I forget it’s there—until Amazon delivers another package and suddenly I’m a professional box-opening specialist.

    Trail run? Trail Goat.

    E-bike ride? Trail Goat.

    Grocery store? Trail Goat.

    Walking the dog? Trail Goat.

Sitting on the couch pretending I’ll go outside later? Trail Goat.

Josh mentioned using it to open boxes, and I laughed. Then I spent the next few weeks opening enough boxes to qualify for a warehouse management position.

The Coyote finish and Multicam wrap look fantastic. It’s actually my only knife in that color combination, and now every time I look at my other knives, they seem a little jealous.

If you’re looking for a giant tactical blade that announces its presence before you enter a room, this isn’t it.

If you’re looking for a knife that’s always with you, disappears when you don’t need it, and somehow becomes the one knife you reach for every single day, the Trail Goat might ruin your entire EDC rotation too.

    10/10.

Would accidentally replace all my favorite knives again.

Thanks for the hilarious and awesome review Derek! So glad the Trail Goat accidentally took over your entire EDC rotation - sounds like it earned its spot as your go-to carry! That Coyote and Multicam combo really does look fantastic, and it's awesome that such a compact knife is handling everything from trail runs to your new career in professional box opening. We love hearing that it disappears when you don't need it but is always there when you do. Thanks for the MKC support and sorry about ruining your other knives' feelings!
