As a species of concern in Montana, the native Westslope Cutthroat faces habitat loss and competition from non-native species, and environmental changes. We named this knife to help raise awareness for conservation efforts restoring habitats, protecting pure populations, and supporting sustainable fishing.

Is this an amazing fly fishing knife? Of course! Is it fun to use MKC knives off label of their namesake? Hell yes it is! Works great for all that intricate work that needs done when caping out a 900lbs grizzly in the field.

Went fishing in Northern Ontario Canada on a remote lake for walleye, pike, perch and white fish. Majority of the fish caught was pike and walleye. I put the Westslope to work on all the fish I caught which was many and the blade stayed very sharp. The knife fit very well in my hand, and I really liked how it cut through the tough skin of the fish. I would take the Westslope over any fillet knife - this is my new go to knife for filleting. This is a must have for fisherman!!!

My wife is pescatarian, with a love for wild caught fish. When I do decide to keep one for dinner I like to bleed them out. The shape and sharpness of this knife makes that task effortless. (No more dulling the yarn fly scissors) I’ve found the knife to be almost undetectable when carried horizontally on my wading belt. It’s thin but stout. This knife is a great all around addition to my favorite gear. I can’t imagine stepping into the river without it now.

This knife is a must have. I love how slender and slicey it is. It balances so nice in hand and makes a great paring knife in the kitchen as well . I definitely will be buying another to keep just for the kitchen lineup.
